church planting
i recieved this in part of an email about church planting and i thought it would be good for others to see this:

1. The first need is a seasoned, trained leader. That is obviously relative, but it is very Important also. The stability and success of any church plant depends upon the maturity, experience and giftedness of the team leader.

2. The next need is a team. We do not want to encourage someone to go to another country by themselves. The challenge is too great, and the obstacles are too severe. God is greater than all the obstacles, but God’s plan is unity, not independence.

3. The 3rd need is for help and encouragement in the city or country where we are going. Wherever we have had good success, there has always been someone or ones there that are willing to help and give us counsel about how to progress in that context.

What we have to do is to pray and wait upon God to provide in those areas.

You should go to next year's National New Church Conference in Orlando for church planters. I went last April. There were about 1,000 church planters there. It was awesomely inspiring to see all these committed people and the various forms of churches being planted in different cultural settings. Highlights for me we're hearing Ed Stetzer talk about loving the culture, Mark Driscoll about preaching to young men (by proclaiming the "tatted up ultimate fighting Jesus" revealed in Rev. 19) and getting to know the guys from K2 church in Salt Lake who share a facility with GCM's The Rock.

The points you bring up -- and others -- were discussed at great length in general sessions and workshops. I'm still digesting.

The web site for next year's is http://www.startingchurches.com/. The "super early bird" sign-up is only $99 through Dec. 1.

Am I selling it too hard?

thank you for that link. i will look closer at it right before december, since that is right through some of my schooling, but it does look amazing. my heart right now wants to go, but i will see if that is where God will want me to be.

Church planting starts at home. A man or woman prepares themselves to be involved in a church plant not by dreaming about it (though that's a start), but by actively living like it/ doing the work of it right now.
The person who talks up church planting while spending gobbers of time playing video games/ watching TV/ ect... is only fooling themselves.
